NCTAF - MetLife Foundation Announces Urban Teaching Academies
On March 7, 2006, the National Commission on Teaching and America's Future recognized three sites as "NCTAF - MetLife Foundation Urban Teaching Academies". The three sites are California State University in Long Beach, California; Chicago's Academy for Urban School Leadership in Chicago, Illinois; and Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey.
With support from the MetLife Foundation, NCTAF awarded $50,000 grants to each of the three programs to recognize and support their innovative work to improve the preparation and transition of new teachers into high-need urban schools.
